Tearoom

The tearoom is open seven days a week, 9.30am to 4pm. These opening times will remain the same over the Christmas and New Year period except on the following days:

Christmas Eve: open 9.30am - 2.30pm
Christmas Day: CLOSED

Boxing Day: CLOSED

On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day the tearoom will be open as usual from 9.30am - 4pm.

The Government is relaxing the COVID-19 restrictions from 19th July 2021. Here at the Canalside Heritage Centre we are taking a cautious approach to full reopening as we want to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors. We are so excited to open the Heritage Centre more fully, but we please ask that you continue to respect everyone when visiting, as you all have throughout the last 16 months.

  • The wearing of face masks when visiting is now optional. Some of our staff and volunteers will still be wearing them, but it will be the choice of visitors if they wish to wear a mask.
  • Indoor seating is now available in the tearoom. As it is a small space we have limited the number of tables to ensure that there is a safe distance between groups. We ask that you please do not move tables and chairs.
  • Hand sanitising stations will be still be available and we recommend visitors use these when entering and exiting the building.
  • We are keeping the test and trace QR codes for visitors who wish to check in to the NHS app when arriving at the Heritage Centre.
  • There is no longer a one-way system and all public areas of the Heritage Centre are accessible to visitors except the exhibition spaces. We ask that you are respectful of others and still maintain social distancing.

Thank you for your continued support!

Our menu includes sweet treats like freshly baked scones and homemade cakes, as well as lunch options such as jacket potatoes, a range of sandwiches, pasta pots and homemade quiches. We also serve a breakfast menu from 9.30am - 12pm which includes bacon and sausage cobs and scrambled eggs on toast.

There are also vegan and gluten free options available, please ask a member of staff and they will be happy to help with this.

Breakfast is served 9.30am - 12pm

Lunch is served 12pm - 2.30pm

Please note that the tearoom is very popular so we cannot guarantee all menu options will be available when you arrive.

Thank you so much for everyone's support during these difficult times, the donations, kind messages and offers of support have been amazing! We can't wait to fully re-open the Heritage Centre as soon as it is safe to do so.
