We are delighted to announce that the Canalside Heritage Centre tearoom will re-open for a takeaway service on Friday 19th June. Please note, as of August 2020, we are now open 7 days a week, 10am - 4pm.

A fantastic takeaway menu is available, including:

  • Hot and cold drinks
  • Croissants, porridge and Danish Pastries
  • Homemade scones, cakes, sausage rolls and pasties

Touch-free menus will be located around the site.

We have also taken the following steps for the safety of visitors and staff:

  • Hand sanitiser available
  • Perspex counter screen
  • No self-service
  • Doors and windows open to encourage air flow
  • Additional waste bins located at the front of tearoom.
  • Additional staff training on cleaning protocols and scheduled deep cleans

For everyone's safety, we also please ask that if you are visiting, you follow the following social distancing measures:

  • Entrance to the tearoom is through the garden gate and the exit is via the yellow front door.
  • We are operating a strict 1 in 1 out system for the indoor areas of the Heritage Centre.
  • Maximum 19 customers queuing at any one time and we ask people in the queue to keep 2 metres distance from other customers.
  • Please no queuing on the two footbridges which lead to the Heritage Centre.
  • Toilets will remain closed and there will be no access to the exhibition, balcony, shop or Weir View Room.
  • Access to the garden is for queuing purposes only. Please do not walk around the garden.

Thank you so much for everyone's support during lockdown, the donations, kind messages and offers of help have been amazing and quite overwhelming. It's been a very difficult time for CHC, as it has for so many, but we hope the takeaway service is the beginning of us getting back on our feet. We will update everyone on when we can re-open fully. In the meantime we hope to see everyone back at the Heritage Centre in the coming weeks.
