Garden Re-opens!

We're delighted to be able to welcome visitors back to our wonderful community garden from Monday 12th April. We know how many people enjoy spending time in the garden and what a peaceful and relaxing place it can be, so to be able to allow access again after such a tough time for everyone is fantastic. The garden, as well as the balcony area, will be open for visitors to enjoy food and drinks purchased from our tearoom. The downstairs toilets will also now be accessible to visitors via the side door from the garden. The toilets and shop will be open from the 12th April, but our exhibition and the Weir View Room remain closed.

We are open 7 days a week 9.30am - 4pm.

Please note there is still no indoor seating in the tearoom.

Social Distancing

For the safety of all staff, volunteers and visitors, we ask that anyone coming to the Heritage Centre please follow these social distancing guidelines:

  • Face masks are mandatory when inside the Heritage Centre. This includes when ordering food and drinks and when using the toilets. Face masks can be removed in the garden in order to eat and drink purchases from the tearoom.
  • Please leave your details for Test and Trace when visiting.
  • We are still employing a 1-in-1-out policy for the tearoom. We ask that no more than 10 people queue at any one time for the tearoom and those queuing please remain 2 metres apart. The entrance to tearoom will now be the yellow front door and the exit is via the garden gate.
  • Groups using the garden must stay 2 metres apart from other visitors. We ask that no more than 15 people are on the balcony at the same time and that the 2 metre social distancing rule is followed at all times.
  • Please do not queue on the two foot bridges leading to the Heritage Centre and when walking over the bridges please follow social distancing as much as possible.

We've put many things in place to ensure the site is safe and hygienic for everyone, including; provision of hand sanitisers, perspex counter screen, doors and windows opened to encourage airflow, additional waste bins on site and additional staff training on cleaning protocols and scheduled deep cleans for touch points, seating areas and toilets.

Thank you

Finally, we'd like to say thank you again to everyone who has supported us during the past year. The response since we partially reopened for a takeaway service has been fantastic and we can't wait to welcome even more of you back to the Heritage Centre!
