Laceware Fluted Vase

Small fluted laceware vase made locally by Judy Firmin at Olde Mill Pottery.

Nottingham laceware pottery is made at Olde Mill Pottery in Caythorpe, an 18th century building erected at about the same time as the first framework knitting machine was adapated and used for lace making. The intricate pattern on the vase is created by pressing a piece of Nottingham lace into the soft raw clay.

The laceware pottery collection forms a direct link to the industrial heritage of Nottingham.
