Community has never been more important and that's why today we've launched our Creative Community project.

Despite social distancing and the restrictions brought on by the pandemic, it's heartening to see the kindness, care and community feeling that has strengthened during this crisis both in the ‘virtual’ and in the real world. While we may be physically apart more than ever, we are more united as a community than we have been in a long time.

As a community-centred organisation, we want to showcase, highlight and shout about all of the wonderful things that our community does as well as what community means to us on an individual level, which is why we’re starting a little project that we hope you’ll join in on!

We’re asking our community to submit artwork on the theme of community and what it means to you. Your artwork might take the form of a poem, a story, a drawing, a photograph, a painting, or a garden sculpture (whatever you decide to create). The aim is to spend some time away from your screens, take your mind off things, and enjoy the process of creating something fun (individually or as a family – please do get your little ones involved!).

Your submissions will be collated into a small book that will be made available when we reopen the Centre, as well as forming part of a community exhibition that will go on display in our Weir View room gallery space. We’ll also send you a 10% off voucher on your first purchase in our tearoom as a way of saying thank you.

Your submission should be no bigger than 1 A4 side of paper.

All submissions should be emailed over to [email protected].

Happy creating!
