We love bees here at the Canalside Heritage Centre and with the help of members of the Nottinghamshire Beekeepers Association, we're having a special celebration on Sunday 22nd May for World Bee Day 2022.

Discover how important bees are for ecosystems and why we need to protect them!

There will be lots of fun bee-themed activities for all of the family, including arts and crafts, sunflower planting and a 'bee-hunt' quiz. Plus there'll also be some tasty honey treats to purchase from the tearoom.

The Nottinghamshire Beekeepers Association will also be raising much-needed funds for the Brotherhood of Ukrainian Beekeepers. Ukraine is one of Europe's leading honey producing nations with a rich culture of beekeeping and over 700,000 beekeepers. The destruction of the war, however, has meant they've lost their homes, bees, apiaries and livelihoods. Funds raised at the event will go to support beekeepers in Ukraine, so please do donate or purchase items for sale if you can.
